Dougie is equally at home fishing rivers or lochs for browns or rainbows but it is on his home river, the Annick, in and around Dreghorn that he enjoys his fishing most.

Hook - Kamasan B - 170 size 12/14
Thread - Any colour
Tail - Guard hair, tied long
Body - Hares ear brushed out with oval gold tinsel rib
Head - 3mm gold bead
This is my favourite point fly when fishing down and across on rivers. A lead underbody can be added if this pattern is going to fished `bugging` style.

Hook - Kamasan B - 170 size 14
Thread - Any colour
Body - Orange Globrite floss with pearly tinsel over
Hackle - Brown partridge tied sparse
A very simple pattern to tie but a very effective one to fish. This fly comes into its ownjust before the olive hatch starts. Takes fish on any position on the cast, but I prefer the top dropper position in a team of three.

Hook - Kamasan B - 170 size 12/14
Thread - Brown
Tail - Pinch of cdc
Body - Stripped peacock herl
Wing - 3 or 4 cdc plumes tiedover the eye of the hook
Another easy to tie pattern that catches lots of fish when Large Dark Olives appear early in the season. My favourite early season dry fly on my home water, the Annick.
