HUGH SKEOCH

Founder member Hugh has been fishing for as long as he can remember and is one of the most successful anglers within the club. A very proficient caster and good all round ability to 'read' the water, has helped him to club championships in 1997 and 1998. He has many venue wins to his credit and has been champion at all three disciplines over the years.

PREFERRED METHOD...."Dry fly in all it's many guises but especially on rivers".

TACKLE...." For most of my river work i use a Sage SP nine foot number five rod matched with an Ari Hart Rio Arbago reel. On the lochs a Sage XP ten foot number seven rod with a Greys GRX reel".

FAVOURITE TACKLE PURCHASE...."My Rutland boat seat, for the height and comfort it brings to long days on the water".

VENUES...."Our local river the Irvine is up there because of the excellent sport it provides at a very reasonable cost. Carra in Eire is a wonderful place to fish but i really love the challenge whether the venue be good or bad".

PET HATES...."Discarded nylon and rubbish left by selfish people at fisheries throughout the country".

FISHING AMBITION...."To fish till i drop, preferably after a good rise and not before or during one, hopefully many, many years from now. To have a wee shot at Norway, Alaska and the USA".

All smiles at Rutland
