RAB BRAZIER

Rab is one of the newest additions to the Crown FF and now has a couple of seasons fly fishing under his belt. He has however been fishing for over thirty years twenty of which as a member of Stanecastle AC. He is very competitive and has won many trophies including Ayrshire Championships in 1996 and 2000. A quick learner, he has benefited greatly from the tips and instruction passed on by fellow members.

PREFERRED METHODS.... A cold, frosty morning fishing for grayling anywhere.

TACKLE...."I use a ten foot Vision five weight rod or a nine and a half foot six weight rod for rivers and a ten and a half foot Orvis eight weight for stillwaters. My reels include a Vision Koma for large waters and rivers, a Danica again for larger venues and a Reddington five/ six weight for small rivers.

LEADERS....Drennan double strength in various breaking strains for all my fishing..

VENUES....Lewis, Wester Ross or the Lochinver area. "I once lost a fish estimated at over twenty pounds at the net on Loch Lundie in Wester Ross and have landed a few over six. A friend had one at fifteen pounds nine ounce, fish like that make the long trek into the hills worth it". The River Nith is hard to beat for grayling.

PET HATES...."Discarded nylon is a common sight around the fisheries, it only takes a few seconds to wrap it up and put it in a pocket or a bin".

AMBITIONS....To keep learning and improving and to finish amonst the top anglers in the club..
